1947年生于江苏无锡。现为上海大学美术学院教授、博士生导师，中国国家画院国画院研究员。系上海市美术家协会常务理事、上海中国画院画家、国家一级美术师。曾任南京艺术学院中国画教研室主任等职。1977年毕业于南京艺术学院中国画专业，并留校任教。

Wang Mengqi was born in 1947 in Wuxi, Jiangsu. He is a professor and a doctoral supervisor at the School of Fine Arts of Shanghai University and a research fellow at the Traditional Chinese Painting Institute of China National Academy of Painting. He is an executive council member of Shanghai Artists Association, a painter of Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, and a national top-level artist. Wang was the director of the Chinese Painting Teaching and Research Office of Nanjing University of the Arts. In 1977, he graduated with a degree in Chinese painting from the Nanjing University of the Arts and stayed there as a teacher.
